Win the student between the result and the counselling round, not after it.

The CET results come out on a Saturday in June.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

In one paragraph

College and university marketing means getting your institution onto a Class 12 student's shortlist, and into the family's conversation, in the weeks between entrance results and counselling. Admissions sales turns that interest into a paid seat. GullySales records every enquiry from portals, calls, campus visits and fairs in one place, and sets up a follow-up that runs until the fee is paid or the family says no.

By Monday the admissions phone has not stopped: a father in Tumakuru asking whether his son's rank will reach computer science, a mother in Hassan asking about the girls' hostel and the bus from Majestic, a cousin calling for a student too shy to ring. A portal emails a spreadsheet of names nobody has opened, and the two counsellors on duty write callbacks on the back of a brochure.

Those families choose within weeks. A NAAC grade and a glossy placement brochure do nothing for a student whose option entry has already closed. What fills the intake is whether the office replied, what it said, and whether anyone rang back the family who walked the campus on Sunday.

How buyers decide

How colleges and universities are chosen.

An undergraduate applicant starts with a rank or a Class 12 percentage and a list of colleges it might reach. They read seniors' posts on Reddit and Quora, watch campus-tour videos on YouTube, compare cut-offs and fees on Shiksha or Collegedunia, and ask anyone from their school who went there. The parents come in later with their own questions: fees, hostel safety and where graduates end up.

The calendar belongs to someone else. Board results, entrance results, counselling rounds and seat allotment set the dates, and a college still printing its prospectus when the first round opens has lost the students who lock options early. A family that visits the campus is close to deciding, and the counsellor who met them is the person they will ring back.

Postgraduate and MBA applicants behave differently. They are older and decide for themselves. They check alumni on LinkedIn before believing a placement figure, and a working professional looking at a weekend programme wants class timings and the fee in writing, not a call every evening.

The problem

What usually goes wrong for colleges and universities.

What owners tell us on the first call, in their words.

  • “Portal leads arrive and nobody calls them”

The college pays an aggregator, the spreadsheet lands in an inbox, and by the time someone dials, the student has locked options at three other colleges.

  • “We cannot say which channel filled the seats”

Fairs, school seminars, portal leads, newspaper supplements and Instagram all run in the same weeks, and the admission form never asks how the student heard of you.

  • “The placement page invites suspicion”

A highest package in large type with no year, no count of students placed and no list of recruiters reads to a parent as a sales trick, and to a regulator as a claim worth checking.

  • “Families who toured the campus hear nothing”

A family sees the hostel, asks about the bus route and waits for a call that never comes, because the counsellor who showed them round is on leave.

  • “Every counsellor quotes a different fee”

One quotes tuition only, another adds hostel and transport, a third mentions a scholarship that ended last year. The parent starts to doubt all three.

  • “Our ratings come from unhappy students”

Reviews on Google and the portals are written during fee or hostel disputes, while contented final-year students post nothing. The page a parent reads shows you at your worst.

What we do

What we do for colleges and universities.

Everything included for colleges and universities, and the result each part is there to produce.

  1. One enquiry record across portals, calls and campus visits

Leads from the education portals and your own website, calls to the admissions office, WhatsApp messages and fair sign-in sheets entered in one record with the course asked for and the student's rank or score.

Result: A counsellor sees the whole history before dialling.

  2. A course page for every programme you admit to

Eligibility, entrance exams accepted, intake, fee heads, hostel and the affiliating university or approval stated on each programme's own page.

Result: A student finds the answer without phoning the office.

  3. A placement page parents can check

Year, students eligible, students placed and the recruiters who came, set out from the placement cell's own records, with nothing a parent could call inflated.

Result: The placement claim holds up when a parent asks for proof.

  4. Counselling-season follow-up sequence

Calls and WhatsApp messages written for each round, from result day to option entry, seat allotment and fee payment, with a named counsellor against every applicant.

Result: No applicant goes quiet without somebody noticing.

  5. One fee sheet for every counsellor

Tuition, hostel, transport, exam and other fees, the scholarships open this year and the refund terms, on one sheet every counsellor uses on the phone.

Result: A parent hears the same figure from anyone they ask.

  6. Admissions reported against the baseline

Enquiries by source and programme, reply time, campus visits and paid admissions, compared with the baseline recorded during the free audit.

Result: You know which source filled seats and which only filled the inbox.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries by source and programme
  • Reply time to a new enquiry in counselling season
  • Campus visits booked and attended
  • Applications that became paid admissions
  • Seats filled against intake, by programme
  • Withdrawals after fee payment

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Worth a page and a campaign of their own

BE and B.Tech admissions during counselling rounds · BBA, BCA and B.Com intake after Class 12 results · MBA and PGDM admissions after CAT, MAT and CMAT scores · Lateral entry for diploma holders · B.Sc Nursing and allied health admissions · Postgraduate and PhD intake · Outstation admissions backed by hostel places · Open days and campus visit weekends · Scholarship and education loan awareness

Priority campaigns

Campaigns for what colleges and universities most want to sell.

Each one planned around when your buyers decide, and measured against the baseline.

  • Result-day and counselling campaign

Search ads, portal profiles and WhatsApp replies lined up before entrance results, with a page per programme linking to the official cut-off lists of past rounds.

Result: A student checking options on result night finds your college with the answer ready.

  • Campus visit weekends

Visit slots offered to applicants who enquired, booked by name, with a reminder the evening before and a call afterwards from the counsellor who showed them round.

Result: Families who visit are spoken to again before they choose.

  • Outstation admissions with hostel places

Pages and adverts for students from other districts and states, answering the hostel, food, travel and safety questions that parents far from campus ask first.

Result: A parent in another state has the hostel answer before the first call.

  • MBA and PGDM intake after entrance scores

Search and LinkedIn promotion timed to CAT, MAT and CMAT results, with alumni stories used only with each alumnus's written consent.

Result: A graduate comparing B-schools sees your recruiters and your alumni.

  • School outreach in Classes 11 and 12

Talks on courses and careers in the schools and PU colleges that invite you, with sign-in sheets carried into the enquiry record.

Result: Next year's applicants know your name before their results.

Beyond search

Where we reach buyers of colleges and universities, beyond Google.

Search matters, but it is rarely the only way this industry's buyers find a supplier.

  • Schools and PU colleges in your catchment

We prepare a career talk, a course sheet and a sign-in form for the schools and pre-university colleges that let you speak to their Class 12 students, and every name goes into the enquiry record.

  • Education fairs and newspaper-run expos

We prepare the stall material, a one-page course list and a sign-in sheet, and each visitor enters the follow-up record with the fair named as the source.

  • Independent career counsellors

We prepare a programme sheet with fees, eligibility and hostel details for counsellors who advise families. Rules on paying for referrals differ by regulator and state, so check before agreeing any commission.

  • Alumni in companies that recruit

We set up a way for alumni to refer juniors from their own towns and to introduce recruiters to your placement cell, with each referral recorded.

  • Coaching institutes for entrance exams

We prepare a short programme guide for coaching centres whose students fall in your rank band, to hand out after results alongside their own counselling advice.

  • Arts, science and commerce degree colleges
  • Business schools and PGDM institutes
  • Nursing, pharmacy and allied health colleges
  • Law colleges with five-year integrated programmes
  • Private universities and deemed-to-be universities
  • Autonomous colleges affiliated to a state university

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the work runs for colleges and universities

  1. 1

    Audit the last admission cycle

We trace where last year's applicants came from, how fast the office replied during counselling, how many visited and how many paid, using your admission register and portal exports.

  2. 2

Fix the record and the reply

One enquiry record for every source, a fee sheet every counsellor uses, and saved WhatsApp replies for hostel, fees and documents.

  3. 3

Rebuild the programme and placement pages

A page per programme with eligibility, fees and approvals, and a placement page built from the placement cell's records.

  4. 4

    Bring applicants in before results

Search, portals, school outreach and social channels set up ahead of each programme's result dates, with budget moved towards whatever produces campus visits.

  5. 5

Follow through to the fee receipt

Every applicant followed through each counselling round to a paid admission or a clear no, measured against the baseline taken at the start.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

Start with the fix the audit ranks first, such as reply time or follow-up. The fee is in writing before anything starts.

FAQ

Questions colleges and universities ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Can we advertise our NAAC grade, NIRF rank and placement record?
Yes, if each is current and stated exactly as awarded, with the year. Regulators and consumer protection rules treat misleading claims about approvals, rankings and placements seriously, and the rules change, so have your regulator's current guidance or a legal adviser check the wording. Never print a highest package without the year and the number of students placed.
Our admissions run on counselling rounds. When should marketing start?
Before the entrance results. A student builds the shortlist on result night and locks options soon after, so programme pages and search visibility must already be in place. Advertising can wait for the weeks around results and option entry.
We are an affiliated college, not a university. Can we run our own campaigns?
Yes, for your own programmes, within what your affiliating university and approving bodies allow you to say. Use the university's name and your approval exactly as they appear on your affiliation letter, and ask the university before using its logo.
Many applicants are under 18. Can we contact them directly?
Speak to the parent as well, and record who agreed to be contacted. India's data protection law treats children's data with extra care and its rules are still being settled, so take legal advice before any campaign aimed at under-18s or built on their data.
Do we need to be on every education portal?
No. Check your admission register for which portals sent students who actually paid last year, and keep your profile accurate on those. A wrong fee or an old course list on a portal you ignore still costs you, so correct it or ask for it to be removed.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
