Colleges and universities · Lead generation

Know which source sent the students who paid, not just the ones who filled a form.

Lead generation for a college is bringing in applicants from portals, school outreach, fairs, search and referrals, and recording each one so you can see which became paid admissions. GullySales sets up the source tracking, the qualifying questions counsellors ask, and the reply routine for the counselling weeks.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

What lead generation means

Lead generation is the combined work of every channel that brings in a new enquiry, whether from search, adverts, referrals or a stall at an exhibition. GullySales runs these channels together and reports the number of enquiries each one produced, not the activity behind it.

For colleges and universities

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Portal leads are shared with several colleges”

A student who fills one form on an aggregator may be shared with several institutions that same evening. The college that rings first with a clear answer gets the conversation.

  • “School outreach is never written down”

Counsellors visit PU colleges and Class 12 schools in January, collect names on paper, and the sheets sit in a drawer until June.

  • “Consultant admissions nobody can trace”

Some students arrive through education consultants. Without a record of who sent whom and on what terms, nobody knows whether those seats were worth what they cost.

What we do

What we deliver for colleges and universities.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A source field on every enquiry

Portal, search, fair, school talk, walk-in, referral, consultant or social, recorded once and never left blank.

Result: You can count paid admissions by source.

  2. Qualifying questions for counsellors

Programme, entrance exam and rank or percentage, home district, hostel need and who is deciding, asked on the first call.

Result: The counsellor knows in a minute whether the student fits.

  3. Portal leads assigned as they arrive

Portal exports pulled into the admissions record with a counsellor assigned to each lead and the call outcome noted.

Result: You stop paying for leads nobody rang.

  4. School and fair sign-ins kept, not filed

Paper sheets from talks and fairs typed into the record with the event named, instead of sitting in a drawer until admissions open.

Result: Students met in January are still reachable in June.

  5. Consultant and referral sources tracked

Each student who came through a consultant, an alumnus or a current student recorded with the referrer's name and the terms agreed in writing.

Result: You see which referrers send students who stay.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries generated
  • Cost per enquiry
  • Enquiries by source

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Where applicants come from

The places a college's applicants come from, and what to record and say at each.

Education portal leads
Record the portal, the programme and the date, and call while the student is still comparing. Ask where else they applied, and mark the lead closed when they say they joined elsewhere.
Calls to the admissions office in counselling season
Write down the programme, rank or percentage, home district and hostel need while the caller is on the line. Give a callback time and the name of the counsellor.
Campus walk-ins with parents
Take names, the student's school and stream, and what they asked about most before the tour starts. Book the next step, a call or an application slot, before they leave.
Talks at schools and PU colleges
Collect a sign-in with each student's stream and intended course, with the school named as the source. Type the sheet into the record within days, not when admissions open.
Education consultants and counsellors
Record the consultant against every student they send and keep the agreement in writing. Rules on paying for admissions differ by regulator and state, so check before agreeing a fee.
Referrals from alumni and current students
Ask who referred them and thank that person yourself. Check what your regulator allows before attaching any fee concession to a referral.

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the work runs for colleges and universities

  1. 1

    Audit the last admission cycle

We trace where last year's applicants came from, how fast the office replied during counselling, how many visited and how many paid, using your admission register and portal exports.

  2. 2

Fix the record and the reply

One enquiry record for every source, a fee sheet every counsellor uses, and saved WhatsApp replies for hostel, fees and documents.

  3. 3

Rebuild the programme and placement pages

A page per programme with eligibility, fees and approvals, and a placement page built from the placement cell's records.

  4. 4

    Bring applicants in before results

Search, portals, school outreach and social channels set up ahead of each programme's result dates, with budget moved towards whatever produces campus visits.

  5. 5

Follow through to the fee receipt

Every applicant followed through each counselling round to a paid admission or a clear no, measured against the baseline taken at the start.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should we keep buying leads from portals?
Only if your own record shows how many portal leads became paid admissions last season. Work that out per portal before renewing. Some send students who were never eligible, and that only shows once every lead has an outcome written against it.
The same student comes in from a portal, a call and a fair. How do we count them?
As one applicant, matched on mobile number, with every source noted and the first one marked. Counting them three times inflates the numbers and has three counsellors ringing one family.
What counts as a qualified applicant for a college?
One who meets the programme's eligibility, has a rank or score in your range, can commute or wants the hostel, and whose decision-maker has spoken to you. Agree the definition with the admissions head before the season starts.
Are school visits worth it when everyone is online?
Yes, for undergraduate programmes drawing from your district and nearby towns. A talk in a Class 12 classroom reaches students before they have a shortlist. Treat it as a lead source, with names collected and counted, not a goodwill trip.
Can we advertise our NAAC grade, NIRF rank and placement record?
Yes, if each is current and stated exactly as awarded, with the year. Regulators and consumer protection rules treat misleading claims about approvals, rankings and placements seriously, and the rules change, so have your regulator's current guidance or a legal adviser check the wording. Never print a highest package without the year and the number of students placed.
Our admissions run on counselling rounds. When should marketing start?
Before the entrance results. A student builds the shortlist on result night and locks options soon after, so programme pages and search visibility must already be in place. Advertising can wait for the weeks around results and option entry.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
