Household products brands · Branding

Your bottle has to be picked up by a homemaker who came for another brand.

Branding for a household products brand is the name, the colour, the fragrance and the one promise that make a bottle recognisable on a crowded shelf and easy for a retailer to recommend. GullySales writes the positioning, tests the pack from counter distance and keeps it the same on every carton, board and listing.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

What branding means

Branding is what a customer remembers about your business beyond the product, including your name, colours, tone of voice and what you are known for locally. GullySales sets or corrects this once and applies it consistently across your website, signage and adverts so the business looks like one company everywhere.

For household products brands

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Your range looks like one product in four bottles”

Floor cleaner, toilet cleaner and glass cleaner differ only in small print, so shoppers and salesmen pick the wrong one.

  • “A copy is easiest when the pack is plain”

A white bottle with a blue label is copied in a back-street unit in a month. A distinct cap, shape and seal make the copy easier to spot.

  • “The fragrance carries the brand more than the logo”

A homemaker remembers a lemon floor cleaner by its smell and asks for it by that. If the fragrance has no name, she has no way to ask.

What we do

What we deliver for household products brands.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A positioning sentence and a plain voice

One sentence on who the cleaner is for, which job it does and why it beats the leader on the same shelf, with the words to use and to avoid.

Result: Every board, post and label says the same thing.

  2. A range plan with a colour code

A logic for names, colours and caps across floor, toilet, glass and dish products, so a salesman and a shopper can tell them apart at once.

Result: The right bottle is picked first time.

  3. A shelf test of the pack

The pack seen from the counter and the shelf, beside the two leaders, and on a phone screen, with a list of what to fix before the next print run.

Result: The bottle is noticed in the two seconds a shopper gives it.

  4. Features that help spot a copy

A batch code, a seal and a cap that are hard to imitate, with a one-page guide for retailers and distributors on how to tell the genuine pack.

Result: A shopkeeper can check a doubtful carton.

  5. A label review in general terms

Declarations, precautions text and language, read against the rules for this kind of product by your adviser, with changes listed for the printer.

Result: The pack is ready for a chain's check.

  6. Brand rules for boards, cartons and vans

A short guide with colours, the logo's clear space and the pack photographs to use, for the printer, the painter and the distributor.

Result: Shop boards and vans look like one brand.

How the result is measured

  • Recognition in customer feedback
  • Consistency across channels
  • Repeat enquiries by name

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Positioning in one sentence

Fill in this sentence before the next print run of labels, and test every pack, board and post against it.

Who uses it, and for which job
Name the job, not the age group: the Sunday floor wash, the greasy tiffin box, the hostel bathroom. A brand tied to one job is easier to ask for.
What it is, in the shopper's words
Floor cleaner, dishwash liquid, phenyl, washing liquid. Put the plain name on the pack before any coined name, and check it reads in the local script.
Why you over the leader on the same shelf
A fragrance your region likes, a bigger fill at the same MRP, a refill pouch, a gentler formula only if your tests support it. Choose one that is true in every town.
Proof you can point to
Registrations as they appear on the certificates, a plant video, years of supply to named institutions with their permission. Never borrow a mark your plant does not hold.
Words to keep off the pack
Germ-kill, chemical-free, child-safe and eco-friendly need documents behind them. Use them only where your tests and adviser support them, and otherwise state the plain fact.
The counter test
Ask a shopkeeper to name the product, the fragrance and the size from two metres. Check the name against the trademark register before it goes on a label.

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the work runs for household products brands

  1. 1

    Read the records

In the free audit we go through billing by distributor and shop, institutional orders, returns of leaking stock and last season's sales, so the first decision rests on records.

  2. 2

    Fix the offer

Margins, schemes, claim rules, the can and pouch price lists and the sample terms, written down and checked against what the brand can afford after the festival.

  3. 3

Equip the shop and the buyer

Counter kits, dilution cards, a selling script for the salesman and a sheet or app he will actually fill in.

  4. 4

Open one channel at a time

A new district, hostels and hotels, apartments, a chain or quick commerce, each opened when the plant, the cash and the distributors can carry it.

  5. 5

    Run the seasons

Diwali, summer and monsoon plans built from what reordered last year, with schemes judged on shops reached, not cartons billed.

Proof

What happened when owners fixed this.

Real clients, the work we did, and the result as it was recorded. Where no number was recorded, none is claimed.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

Should we rename the brand when we enter a new state?
Only if the name means something unfortunate in the local language or someone already holds it there. Ask five shopkeepers to say it and write it down. A new name resets the recognition you have built, so a change needs a reason.
Is a new logo or a clearer positioning more urgent?
Positioning. A new logo on a pack that still says nothing about the job does not change what a shopper picks. Settle the sentence first, and then see whether the old logo and pack can carry it.
Can we use a name in the local language on the pack?
Yes, and it often helps in smaller towns. Keep one registered brand name across states and put the local-language name beside it, with a trademark search for each script before printing.
Can a brand name imply a claim, such as Germ Kill?
It can be read as a claim, and a claim needs a test report behind it. The same care applies to words like herbal or natural. Ask your regulatory adviser about names that describe an effect before you register them.
Is a refill pouch worth launching?
Often, for floor cleaner and dishwash, because the pouch costs less to make and carry and the shopper sees a lower price per use. Test it in one district beside the bottle first. Check that the shop keeps it upright, since pouches stacked badly leak.
How do we begin selling to hostels and hotels?
Start with ten or twenty institutions in one city. Send a can with a dilution card, ask who signs the purchase, and call when the trial is due to finish. Housekeeping heads reorder from whoever answered their questions and delivered when promised.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
Fixes to reply time, follow-up and your Google Business Profile are the quickest to show, because the enquiries already exist. Ads can follow soon after follow-up is in place. SEO and content take longer. How long each takes depends on your business, and the audit tells you which applies to you. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
