Professional certification institutes · Buyer journey

Know what a candidate asks at each stage, from the first exam search to the first paper.

The buyer journey for a certification institute is the path a candidate takes from deciding to sit a credential to enrolling, studying and booking the exam. GullySales maps each stage, what the candidate asks and what you should have ready, so no stage is left to a counsellor's memory.

A 90-minute audit call and a written, scored report. Turnaround, reporting and term are agreed in writing after the audit.

What buyer journey means

The buyer journey is the sequence of steps a customer actually takes, from first hearing about you to deciding to buy, which is rarely a single visit or call. GullySales maps this sequence for your business and checks that something useful happens at each step instead of only at the final call.

For professional certification institutes

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “The decision starts before the search”

A senior gets a job offer, a manager reads a promotion list, a colleague passes. The first chance to be seen is the search that follows, and a brochure comes too late for it.

  • “Comparison happens in a short window”

A candidate talks to three institutes in quick succession and enrols with the one that answered best, not the one with the best results page.

  • “The journey continues after the fee”

A student who pays and then stops after the first paper is the cost of a stage nobody managed. The sale is not finished until the exam is booked.

What we do

What we deliver for professional certification institutes.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A journey map written from your own students

Stages and questions taken from conversations with recent enrolled and not-enrolled candidates, not guessed in a meeting.

Result: The map describes your candidates, not candidates in general.

  2. A content list stage by stage

Which page, video or message answers each stage's question, and which of them is still missing.

Result: You know what to build next.

  3. Triggers and hand-offs

What moves a candidate from one stage to the next, who acts on it and where it is recorded.

Result: Nobody waits for a person who does not know it is their turn.

  4. Drop-out analysis from your records

Where candidates stop between enquiry, demo, fee, first class and first exam, worked out from the enquiry record and the attendance sheets.

Result: You can see the stage that loses the most candidates.

  5. A path after enrolment

Joining note, orientation, help with exam registration, a first mock test and a check-in after the first paper.

Result: A paid student is still looked after.

  6. A path for the parent or the sponsor

A separate map for the person who pays or approves: what they ask, what they need to see and who gives it to them.

Result: The payer is answered as carefully as the student.

How the result is measured

  • Drop-off rate by step
  • Time from first contact to sale
  • Steps with no content

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

Stages of this buyer's journey

The stages a candidate passes between deciding on a credential and sitting the first paper.

Decides to get a credential
A promotion list, a Gulf job advertisement or a colleague's pass starts it. Be found through credential-choice guides and LinkedIn posts, so the candidate sees what the credential asks of them.
Searches and shortlists
The candidate searches the credential and the city, reads portals and Reddit, and lists three institutes. Have the credential page, the fee split and the trainers ready, and the same on every profile.
Compares and asks for proof
They ask for the total fee, the batch timing, who teaches and the results. Send the fee sheet and a demo link, and state the basis of any results claim you make.
Attends the demo or calls the desk
They judge the trainer and how the desk behaves. Have the trainer who will teach take the demo, and have the counsellor log the questions asked.
Decides and pays
A manager approves or a parent agrees, with the fee paid in instalments where the institute allows it. Give an invoice with GST, instalment terms in writing and the body's fees shown separately.
Studies and sits the exam
Joining, first class, exam registration and mocks. Check in around registration and after the first paper, because that is where candidates drift away and ask for refunds.

Who it is for

This is written for these professional certification institutes.

  • US CMA, CFA and FRM institutes for finance careers
  • PMP, PRINCE2 and Agile project management trainers
  • Six Sigma and Lean quality certification institutes

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Free audit call

90 minutes with whoever handles your enquiries: how they arrive, how fast they are answered, where they are lost.

  2. After the call

    Written, scored report

Six areas scored, fixes ranked by return and cost. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come with it, in writing.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

Usually the cheapest one on the report: reply time, a follow-up sequence or the marketing-to-sales handover.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the work runs for professional certification institutes

  1. 1

    Audit the last batch

We trace where each enrolment came from, how long the desk took to reply, how many demo attendees paid and how many students booked their first exam, using your fee register and attendance sheets.

  2. 2

Fix the record and the reply

One enquiry record, one fee sheet, saved WhatsApp replies for eligibility, mode and fees, and a named person for the messages that arrive at night.

  3. 3

    Rebuild the certification pages

A page per credential and level with eligibility, fees split between you and the body, batch dates and the credentials your trainers hold.

  4. 4

Bring candidates in ahead of each batch

Search, LinkedIn, webinars and employer outreach set around each credential's batch dates and exam windows, with budget moved towards whichever source brings paid enrolments.

  5. 5

Follow through to the first exam

Every demo attendee followed to a paid fee or a clear no, and every enrolled student tracked to an exam booking, measured against the baseline taken at the start.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How long does a candidate take to decide?
It depends on who pays. A self-funded graduate decides when a batch date and a fee fit. An employee waits for reimbursement approval, and a parent waits for a family conversation. Ask at the first call who decides and which date matters, and record the answer.
Who else is involved in the decision?
A parent for a graduate, a manager or HR for an employee, and a spouse who will lose the Saturday evenings. Give each what they need: a pathway sheet for the parent, an invoice and outline for the manager and a class timetable for the spouse.
A candidate went quiet after the demo. What now?
Send one question on WhatsApp about what is holding them back: fee, timing or the credential. Quiet candidates are frequently waiting for something outside the institute, such as a reimbursement or a registration date. Record the reason and set a date to call.
How do we find where candidates drop out?
Count from your enquiry record and attendance sheets how many reached each stage: enquiry, demo registered, demo attended, fee paid, first class and first exam booked. The biggest drop between two neighbouring stages is where to look first. Do not compare it with another institute's numbers.
Can we put our pass rate on banners and ads?
Only if you can show the basis: the exam session, the number who sat, how a pass is counted and where the record is kept. Certifying bodies and consumer protection rules treat misleading results claims seriously, and both change, so have your partner agreement and a legal adviser check the wording. Leave the figure out if you cannot back it with records.
Can we use the certifying body's logo and call ourselves an authorised partner?
Only as your agreement with the body allows, and only while the status is current. Candidates check the body's partner list, and a wrong claim loses the candidate and may cost you the partnership. Copy the wording of your approval exactly, and ask the body in writing before putting its logo on an advertisement.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped in the free audit and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after the audit, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you meet on the audit call. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
For the audit, last month's enquiries in any format and 90 minutes with whoever handles them. After that, access to the accounts the work touches, such as the website, Google Business Profile or CRM, and time for the review meetings.
