Manufacturing · Casting & Foundry

We sit between sand and pressure die casting, and buyers keep treating us like one or the other.

A buyer deciding between sand, gravity and pressure casting is weighing tooling cost, run length and part quality. Gravity die casting sits in the middle, and that is the difficulty: the buyer is unsure whether to approach a gravity shop at all.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

Foundry inspectors examine cooled metal castings and mould patterns

In one paragraph

Gravity die casting, also called permanent mould casting, pours molten metal into a reusable metal die under its own weight, giving denser castings than sand and cheaper tooling than a pressure die. GullySales helps gravity die shops explain where they fit, so buyers of cookware, fittings, pistons and similar parts know to ask.

The sales job is to name the parts that suit it, so an engineer reading the page recognises their own.

Who it is for

This is written for you if gravity die casting is what you make or sell.

  • Gravity die shops casting aluminium and, in some cases, brass and copper alloys
  • Makers of cookware, pump parts, brass fittings and electrical fittings
  • Shops with tilt-pour setups and in-house die making or die repair
  • Foundries adding gravity dies to a sand business

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • A buyer who needs very thin walls at high volumes. That is pressure die casting territory.
  • A shop that outsources all die making and has no plan for die repair

How buyers choose

What decides the sale of gravity die casting.

  1. Die cost against run length

The buyer weighs a gravity die against a sand pattern and a pressure die. A clear explanation of where the break falls for their part keeps the enquiry alive.

  2. Density and pressure tightness

Parts that hold water, oil or gas need soundness. Buyers ask for pressure-test practice and what is done to reduce porosity.

  3. Alloy and heat treatment

Aluminium alloy grade and any T-condition heat treatment appear on the drawing. Buyers look for a shop that has poured the same.

  4. Die life and repair

The die wears, and a repair arrangement is part of the deal. The buyer asks who keeps the die and who fixes it.

Where orders are lost

What usually goes wrong when you sell gravity die casting.

In the words owners use on the first call.

  • “Buyers ask for a quotation as a sand casting and as a pressure die”

They are comparing three processes and the gravity die shop is the third call. By then the decision has often half-formed.

  • “Our cookware customers buy on price alone”

Several brands, a few buyers, one rate comparison. Nothing else about the shop reaches them.

  • “Our die repair work is invisible”

The shop can repair and modify dies for others, but no one outside knows. It is an unused second business.

What we do

What you get for gravity die casting.

Each deliverable and what it is there to change.

  1. A process comparison page

Helps a buyer choose, and puts your shop in the shortlist.

  2. A pressure-test and heat-treatment statement

What you test, on what equipment and with what record.

  3. A die-repair listing

    A second service made visible.

  4. A buyer list for cast aluminium and brass parts

Names, parts and a first-contact route.

How the result is measured

  • Quotation requests naming gravity casting
  • Quotations followed up
  • Die-repair enquiries
  • Sample approvals
  • Repeat orders on existing dies
  • Comparisons won against sand and pressure die quotes

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

The numbers this work is meant to move, such as enquiries, quotations, orders, visits or renewals, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is a reply, a follow-up, a page, a listing or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

What we need from you

What to have ready before we talk.

None of it has to be tidy. We read what you have.

  • Alloys poured and any heat treatment done in-house
  • Dies held and for which customers
  • Pressure-test or leak-test equipment
  • Die repair or modification work done for others
  • Recent quotations that were lost and why

Export and new regions

Selling gravity die casting beyond your home market.

Where you sell decides standards, documents, payment terms and freight. We work from Bengaluru and have no overseas office, so for a new region we start from your own enquiries, your existing buyers and the directories you already use.

  1. Importers of cookware and fittings

Overseas buyers of cast cookware and brass fittings work through importers and private-label brands. Your current export enquiries tell you who is already asking.

  2. Food-contact and finish questions

Cookware buyers ask about coating and food-contact suitability. Say what you supply and what the coater supplies, and let their adviser name the standard.

FAQ

Questions about selling gravity die casting.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

When is gravity die casting better than sand casting?
When you need a denser, smoother casting in a repeat run and can justify a metal die. The break point depends on the part, so we ask the shop for its own numbers.
Can a gravity die shop sell to automotive?
Some parts suit it. Whether you can enter depends on your quality records and the buyer's approval process, not on a web page.
Is die repair worth marketing?
Yes if you have spare tool-room capacity. It brings foundries and tool rooms as customers, and they are a different buyer from your casting customers.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
How soon will we see results?
It depends on what is being changed and how many of the people who matter see it. After we have read your brief and spoken to you, we say what we would expect to move first and how it will be measured against the baseline. Nothing here is guaranteed.
Who will actually do the work?
The person you speak to before anything starts. We work from one office in Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, with no account managers in between.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever the work touches, such as your profiles, your website or your accounts, and time with the people who can answer our questions.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
