Hospitals · Marketing strategy

Decide which departments to grow this year before spending on any channel.

A marketing strategy for a hospital starts with which two or three departments have the capacity and margin to grow this year. It then works backwards to the channels and referral relationships needed. GullySales builds this with the administrator and checks it in the report against admission numbers.

Scope, fee, reporting and term are agreed in writing after we have read your brief and spoken to you.

What marketing strategy means

Marketing strategy is the plan for which channels to use, in what order and with what budget. This way, marketing spend is aimed at a goal instead of tried one channel at a time. GullySales sets this plan after the first conversation, based on where your buyers actually search and decide.

Last updated 5 Oct 2026. Rules for this trade differ by state and professional body, and they change. We describe restrictions in general terms, so check the current position with your own council or adviser before you publish anything.

For hospitals

Where it usually goes wrong, and what we would do.

  • “Capacity decides the priority, not ambition”

A department with a full-time specialist and empty beds is a better bet for a campaign than one waiting on equipment.

  • “Referral relationships need a strategy of their own”

GPs and labs that send patients are a channel, and deserve the same planning as a search or ads budget.

  • “The strategy names what will not be done”

A hospital with a small team should not run five departments' campaigns at once, and the plan says which wait.

What we do

What we deliver for hospitals.

Every deliverable, what it covers for you, and the result it is there to produce. Nothing here is an extra.

  1. A priority department shortlist

A shortlist of two or three departments with the capacity and margin to grow this year, agreed with the administrator.

Result: The hospital knows exactly where marketing effort should go first.

  2. A referral relationship plan

A written plan for which GPs and labs to build a relationship with, treated with the same planning as a search or ads budget.

Result: Referral relationships grow deliberately instead of by chance.

  3. Admission numbers checked against the baseline

A fixed review point where the strategy is checked against real enquiry and admission numbers, not assumptions.

Result: The plan changes only when the evidence says a priority has actually shifted.

  4. A written list of what waits

A list of departments or channels the hospital will deliberately not pursue yet, so a small team is not spread across five campaigns at once.

Result: The team focuses fully on the departments that matter most right now.

How the result is measured

  • Enquiries against target
  • Cost per enquiry
  • Channel contribution to revenue

Recorded as a baseline before work starts, so every later report has an honest comparison.

What to decide first

What a hospital decides about beds, departments and referrers before any campaign is planned.

The beds and theatres that stand idle
Read occupancy and theatre use by department. Where beds are free and a consultant is ready to take more patients, the case for promotion is real. Where staffing is thin, it is not.
Planned care or emergency care
Planned surgeries and procedures can be steered by marketing. Emergencies mostly cannot. Decide how much of the effort goes to the first group and how the second is served through your number and listing.
The insurers and schemes you push
List the insurers, TPAs and government schemes where your approvals work smoothly and where they stall. Mention only those you can process well, and tell the desk which to explain to the family.
The doctors and labs who refer
Write down the referring doctors, labs and clinics by the admissions they sent. Decide which relationships get a call from the department head, and which need only a clear way to send a patient.
The area you serve
Map where admissions come from, by pin code, over the past year. Decide whether to build nearby, or reach a wider area by specialty, where travel is worth it for the family.
What stays out of your marketing
Advertising rules for hospitals differ by state and council, and patient privacy comes first. Check with your own regulator, and decide in advance which claims, photos and stories you will not publish.

Who it is for

This is written for these hospitals.

  • Multi-speciality hospitals
  • Single-speciality hospitals, maternity, orthopaedic or eye
  • Nursing homes
  • Day-care surgery centres
  • Corporate hospital chains with several branches
  • Diagnostic-centre-led hospitals
  • Hospitals attached to medical colleges

Not for

It is not the right fit if.

  • You want a guaranteed Google ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody honest can promise either.
  • You need enquiries by next week and have nobody to answer them.
  • You want posts and reach reported, not enquiries and orders.

How it works

From your first message to the first report.

No open-ended retainer. Every step gives you something in writing.

  1. First

    Your brief

You tell us what you need in a few short steps: your business, what you want, where enquiries come from and how they are handled.

  2. After the brief

A conversation and a written scope

We read it, then talk with whoever handles your enquiries. If you want our help, the scope, the fee and the reporting come in writing, and nothing starts before you have read them.

  3. Before work starts

    Baseline recorded

Enquiries by source, reply time, conversion and cost per order, written down so every later report has an honest comparison.

  4. After the baseline

    The first fix goes live

The fix we agreed to start with is put in place and measured against the baseline, whether that is reply time, a follow-up sequence, the page buyers land on or the handover between marketing and sales.

  5. As agreed

    Report against the baseline

What moved, what did not, and what changes next, in plain words. How often you get it is set in writing before work starts.

  6. At renewal

    Renew on the numbers

The term ends and you decide whether to continue from the results. The length is agreed in writing before anything starts.

How the marketing strategy work runs

  1. 1

    Understand business goals

We start with what the business needs to achieve this year, in revenue and growth terms, not marketing terms.

  2. 2

    Audit current activity

We review every current marketing activity and what it has actually produced.

  3. 3

    Strategise the plan

Channels, messaging and budget are set based on the goals and what we find in your business, not habit or competitor imitation.

  4. 4

    Implement the roadmap

The plan is broken into an execution roadmap, either run by GullySales, your own team, or both.

  5. 5

    Measure against milestones

Progress is checked against the plan's milestones, with adjustments made as the year unfolds.

  • Nanda Arthritis and Rheumatology Center

    Situation
There was no website, so a patient looking for a rheumatologist had no way to learn about the centre. Enquiries were few, and the ones that arrived came by word of mouth.

Why us

Why owners pick GullySales over an agency.

  • Marketing and sales, as one job

Most agencies stop at the enquiry. We also fix what happens after it: the reply, the follow-up, the quote and the CRM.

  • The person on the first call does the work

No account managers in between. You are never handed to someone you have not met.

  • A baseline before anything starts

Your numbers are written down on day one, so every later report compares against something honest.

  • The fee in writing, split three ways

Our time, your media spend and production on separate lines. You always see what goes to us.

  • No guarantees we cannot keep

The term is agreed in writing and never a default twelve months. We never promise a ranking or a lead count, because nobody controls those.

  • One office, and we say so

Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. We work across India by call and WhatsApp and travel when a session needs to be in person.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they call.

Not here? More answers, or ask on WhatsApp.

How often should the strategy change?
Checked in the report against enquiry and admission numbers, changed only when a department's priority genuinely shifts.
Who is involved in setting it?
The administrator and the department heads whose beds and OPD slots the plan is meant to fill.
Should one marketing person cover the hospital, or each department?
Keep one owner for the plan and its numbers, and name one doctor or manager in each department who answers questions and approves content. The owner stays neutral between departments, and the department contact keeps the content medically accurate.
Our admissions are already good. What should the plan change?
Look for where the good number hides weak spots, such as an empty department or a long approval delay. Use the strong period to fix the process that loses patients between OPD and admission, and to record the doctors who send you cases.
How soon would we see more admissions?
Fixing reply time and the referral record shows within weeks. Ranking a page for a search such as knee replacement surgeon in your town takes months.
Do we need to advertise?
Only for a department with spare capacity that needs enquiries this month. Most hospitals gain first from the reply routine and the profile, which cost nothing extra.
How much does it cost?
There is no price list, because the work differs by business. The fee is scoped after we have read your brief and spoken to you, and put in writing before anything starts, split into our time, your media spend and production.
How long is the contract?
The term is agreed in writing after we have spoken, along with the fee and the reporting. It is never a default twelve months, and renewal is decided on the numbers against the baseline recorded at the start.
What do you need from us?
Your brief, and a conversation. After that, access to whatever this work touches, such as your website, your accounts or your enquiry record, and time with the people who handle your enquiries.
What if we are not happy with the work?
Tell us and the plan changes. Everything is reported against the baseline, so a number that is not moving is visible to both sides. The term is in your written scope, and the refund and cancellation policy sets out the rest.
